So what is it about 9/11?

I remember the day well. My qube was just outside the door to the breakroom. At some point I became aware of a high noise level from the tv in there.

I went in.

A nearly full room of maybe 30-40 people watching. I looked for a bit and went back to work.

At some point the noise level got to me. Not knowing what to do, I went to Holy Family Catholic church nearby. The church seats about 500-600. There were a handful of people in it in silence. I sat and journaled -- don't know where that journal is now.

After 15 min or so, I went to leave. The small room to the left had the Eucharistic bread exposed. I went in a stayed a while longer.

I don't remember where I went or for how long.

That night should have been the Knights of Columbus Council officers meeting. Instead, there was a Mass at St Thomas the Apostle, the young Fr Jarek presiding. I only remember a good sermon in his very soft voice, which seemed soothing at the time. (I wonder where he is now?)

The next night was a Knights of Columbus Assembly meeting. I remember nothing.

The next Tuesday would have been a Knights of Columbus Council regular meeting. I remember presiding as Grand Knight. I remember being speechless -- no words to fit the moment.

Five years later I presided at a meeting of the Assembly as Navigator. I asked for volunteers for a committee to study the situation. Only one person volunteered.

I tried to talk to the pastor of St Thomas but could not clearly say what I was about. I was brushed off.

how does the government remember?
